One of the projects I’m most proud of is a poster I designed titled Baarmoederbankroet (Womb Bankruptcy). With this piece, I wanted to shed light on the ongoing neglect of women in healthcare, a serious issue that urgently needs more attention and action within our society.

The central image of the poster shows a hand wearing a medical glove taking money out of a womb-shaped piggy bank. This visual metaphor is meant to highlight how profit-driven motives often undermine the quality of care women receive. The concept plays with the idea of the body as something valuable, yet exploited, and challenges the viewer to reflect on who really benefits from the current system.

Throughout the design process, I conducted in-depth research into symbolism and visual communication to ensure that my message came across strongly and clearly. I carefully considered the use of contrast, color, and composition to create emotional impact and draw attention to the subject matter. The piece was created in a similar way to Pictures of Me?, where I first hand-drew the image, then scanned it in high resolution and digitally traced and colored it. The final result is an illustrated poster that merges critical design with visual storytelling.
